Job Summary: Role holders at this level oversees the 24/7 operation of power generation facilities (e.g., Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, Cogeneration, etc.) and utility systems (Boilers, Compressed Air, Nitrogen/Hydrogen generation). The role holder will lead and manage teams comprised of various levels of team and shift leadership directing the activities of operational staff charged with monitoring and controlling production plants. The role is heavily oriented towards operational problem solving through the application of analytical and innovative problem solving. Safety, Quality and Environment are paramount concern, and the role holder has a major role in responding to, and act as incident commander in case of emergency situations.To prepare short- and long-term strategic plan for the section in accordance with department strategic plan.Key Accountabilities: Plan, lead and manage Operations teams to ensure operational targets are met through the optimization of processes and cost-effective operations and that staff are motivated to realize potential and make significant contributions. Keep superior informed on operating conditions to enable monitoring of production progress and for the co-ordination of overall production activities. Develop and gain approval for production and expenditure budgets, ensuring adequate provision has been made for the planned activities. Continually monitor progress and priorities and make necessary adjustments to ensure effective cost control. Develops and gains agreement to organization structures, manning levels and resources needed for the achievement of production targets. Manage all short- and medium-term plant operational and planning activities, including close co-ordination with the maintenance function to ensure equipment and systems are in optimum operating condition and that downtime is kept to a minimum. Reviews and approves recommendations for the development of new or enhanced plant-specific procedures and processes that will deliver improved effectiveness and efficiency of production operations. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with process and equipment suppliers/licensers to ensure QAFCO is kept informed of latest developments. Act as source of technical expertise in diagnosing and troubleshooting complex problems to obtain desired result and develop operators’ capabilities. Develop trains and appraises all plant staff in order that they maximize their contribution and fulfil personal development needs. Assume the role of incident commander during emergencies to assess and contain situation until normal operations can be resumed. Participate in subsequent incident investigations to determine causes and recommend remedial action. Desired Candidate Profile: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, or relevant discipline (master’s degree preferred). Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in power generation, utilities management, or plant engineering within Fertilizer, Petrochemical, Utilities/ Power Plant or Oil & Gas.
