Description
The Head Sommelier at Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island is responsible for curating an exceptional wine experience for guests. This role combines expert wine knowledge with a passion for personalized service, ensuring that the wine offering enhances the culinary journey. The Sommelier will be in charge of wine selection, storage, pairing recommendations, and wine service, while also training the team and supporting beverage-related operations across the resort. Key Responsibilities Guest Experience & Service Excellence Provide expert wine recommendations based on guests’ preferences and menu selections. Deliver impeccable wine service in line with Waldorf Astoria’s brand standards. Host wine tastings, events, and pairing experiences to elevate guest engagement. Wine Program & Inventory Manage the wine cellar and ensure proper storage, rotation, and labeling. Maintain accurate inventory and conduct monthly stock takes. Liaise with suppliers to source premium and rare wines, ensuring an innovative and relevant wine list. Collaboration & Training Work closely with chefs and outlet managers to develop seasonal wine pairings. Train and develop F&B team members on wine knowledge and service techniques. Act as the wine ambassador of the resort, staying up to date on global wine trends. Compliance & Administration Ensure all wine service complies with local licensing laws and Hilton brand policies. Prepare reports on wine sales, trends, and guest feedback. Monitor revenue and profitability of the wine program, and suggest areas for improvement.
