Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and reliable sushi chef to join our team. An ideal candidate will have experience in making nigiri, sashimi, maki, and breaking down fish in a fast paced environment. Beginning pay will be a monthly $4,500 salary: shifts will be Tuesday-Saturday 1:30-8:30 (but will change in the future to $5,000 and longer hours.)
Duties:
- Maintaining and setting up sushi case
- Fileting and breaking down fish such as salmon and bluefin tuna
- Making nigiri, sashimi, and helping with rolls
- Ability to prep all sushi vegetables, rice and garnishes
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely food preparation and service
- Assist in menu planning and development of new sushi dishes
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders for sushi ingredients as needed
- Train and mentor junior sushi chefs as required
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role in a restaurant setting
- Strong knowledge of sushi preparation techniques, including cutting, rolling, and plating
- Familiarity with different types of fish and seafood used in sushi dishes
- Ability to lift 50lbs and stand for duration of the shift
- Excellent knife skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality
- Knowledge of food handling and safety regulations
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team
