Overview We are seeking an experienced and professional Head Tailor to lead our tailoring team, oversee all tailoring operations and ensure the highest standards of garment construction, alteration and presentation. This is a full-time position requiring strong technical tailoring skills, excellent people management and a commitment to delivering exceptional quality and service. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Supervision • Lead, mentor and manage a team of tailors and alterations staff, fostering a collaborative, respectful and high-performance working environment. • Allocate work, set standards, monitor performance and provide regular feedback, coaching and on-the-job training to develop skills within the team. Tailoring & Quality Control • Oversee all tailoring, alterations and finishing processes to ensure garments meet company standards for fit, finish and presentation. • Carry out, and where required perform, complex fittings, pattern adjustments, hand finishing and bespoke tailoring tasks to achieve excellent results. Pattern Making & Technical Expertise • Supervise pattern cutting, grading and adjustments for bespoke and made-to-measure garments; advise on construction techniques and fabric handling. • Troubleshoot technical issues and implement solutions to improve fit, durability and appearance. Customer Service & Fittings • Manage fittings and client consultations when required, ensuring clear communication about alteration options, timelines and costs. • Maintain high standards of customer care and professionalism at all times. Workflow & Production Management • Plan and manage workshop schedules to meet deadlines and ensure efficient workflow. • Coordinate with purchasing, sales and quality teams to prioritise work, manage lead times and deliver consistent service levels. Stock Control & Equipment • Monitor and maintain supplies of fabrics, threads, linings, interfacings and haberdashery; report reorder requirements and assist with stock counts. • Ensure sewing machines and workshop equipment are maintained, serviced and used safely. Health & Safety • Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop; comply with health and safety policies and report hazards or incidents promptly. • Ensure team members follow safe working practices and proper handling of tools and materials. Continuous Improvement & Standards • Develop and implement quality control procedures, standard operating practices and training materials to raise workmanship standards. • Contribute to product and service development through practical suggestions to improve fit, finish and cost-efficiency. Key Skills & Qualifications Essential • Significant experience in professional tailoring, alterations or bespoke garment production, with demonstrable technical expertise. • Proven experience managing and developing a small team within a tailoring, atelier or high-end garment environment. • Strong knowledge of pattern cutting, fitting techniques, hand sewing and machine operations. • Excellent attention to detail, quality-focused with the ability to maintain consistent standards under pressure. • Good communication skills and ability to liaise professionally with clients and internal stakeholders. • Right to work in the UAE and ability to pass relevant background checks where required. Desirable • Formal qualifications in tailoring, dressmaking or garment technology. • Experience in bespoke menswear, womenswear or high-end retail tailoring. • Familiarity with inventory control and basic workshop budgeting.
