The Granite Club is looking for a full time Head Tennis Professional to oversee the Tennis Program and implement policies and procedures as agreed to by the Tennis Committee and approved by the Director of Racquets. They will promote the game of tennis to the Club membership and provide tennis programming for all levels, ages, and abilities. They will be responsible for running tournaments, coaching T&D teams, teaching lessons and clinics, and ensuring a balance of competitive, instructional, and social interaction opportunities. Primary Responsibilities To provide quality programs utilizing the Adult and Junior tennis pathways model. To teach or have qualified staff or contract professionals, teach these programs as agreed upon with the Director of Racquets. To oversee and ensure structure in delivery of T&D league play, ladders, round robins, winter and summer adult and junior club championships and tournaments as agreed with the Director of Racquets. To work with the Director of Racquets in carrying out the administrative functions of the Section. To assist with the promotion of all section programs and activities. To be responsible for the training, supervision and performance of other staff relating to the Tennis program, including professional, administrative and Sports Desk staff. Mentoring and utilizing the Tennis Administrator to be the face of the tennis administration role to include billings, schedule of activities, bulletin boards and media screens, Committee communication, etc. To conduct annual performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback to staff, host weekly staff meetings, and throughout the year as needed. To work with the Director of Racquets to identify budget requirements and to be accountable for the management of the tennis section's budget. To attend quarterly meetings of the Tennis Section Committee. Giving guidance, support and direction to the committee adhering to mutually agreed upon procedures. To be responsible and liaise with the Past Convener for filling Tennis Committee vacancies including providing nominating names for approval. To oversee the planning process of social events and to ensure delivery by Tennis Events Coordinator. To be present at social functions, Pro-Am, Exhibitions as agreed upon. To ensure Club rules pertaining to tennis dress code, court usage, guest policies etc. are enforced along with the Club House Rules. To foster and maintain good relations between tennis staff, contract tennis professionals, and Members, as well as with other staff departments. To prepare, where required, all necessary reports, submissions, and other administrative items as requested by the Director of Racquets. To work with the Club’s Facilities Department to ensure the tennis courts and facilities are in good condition and standards are met. To ensure the cleanliness of the Tennis Office and ball sheds and maintain to standard daily. To ensure all tennis balls and equipment are fully replenished and kept to standard. To contribute to section deadlines for the Granite News, Activity and Sport Programming Guide, and monthly Tennis Section ESS’s ensuring promotion of all tennis programs. To maintain a high level of communications with other clubs and the sport governing bodies; Tennis Professional Association, Tennis Canada and Ontario Tennis Association. To ensure that all trophies for events are ordered, engraved, and maintained as well as updating any section recognition boards or media screens. To be responsible for providing the Gold and Silver Crest recipients names for the annual Recognition Athletics and Recreation Awards Dinner. To communicate to Section Members in a timely manner notice of bubble installation and removal schedules, special events, tournaments, exhibitions, or any other programs which would impact the Members weekly casual booking use. To work with the Director of Racquets to ensure safe facilities and a safe environment. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Tennis Canada Club Professional 3 or Coach 3 Certification (or equivalent) Head Professional or Tennis Director experience or equivalent Excellent communications, public relations, and organizational skills. Computer Skills, Court Booking software knowledge. Valid First Aid/CPR-C/AED certification. Excellent oral and written English. Compensation The salary range for this position is $73, 000 to $85, 000.This role is eligible for commissions based on terms and conditions.
