Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Health and Safety Coordinator will assist the SHEQ Manager to oversee and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and programmes to maintain a safe working environment for employees in Blok N Mesh. They will collaborate with management, employees, and regulatory bodies to promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist to develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and programmes specific to Blok N Mesh.
  • Ensure that regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance have been completed by the management team.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, and near misses, and analyse data to identify trends and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Monitor learning management systems including completion rates, creating detailed training reports for key stakeholders.
  • Arrange third party training such as first aid, fire marshal and forklift operator training.
  • Maintain the company training matrix ensuring that it remains up to date.
  • Assist to ensure that training is completed on time by all employees.
  • Collaborate with management and employees to identify and resolve health and safety concerns.
  • Stay up to date with the latest health, safety and environmental legislation.
  • Maintain a register of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Assist the management team to investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and collate detailed reports.
  • Liaise with customers in a professional manner to ensure they are provided with up-to-date information.
  • Maintain effective communication channels with employees and management to promote safety awareness and encourage reporting of hazards.
  • Coordinate with external agencies and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and create detailed notes.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks to address specific safety issues and promote continuous improvement.
  • Maintain compliance with business-critical accreditations such as Constructionline, SafeContractor and similar systems including SSIPs.
  • Assist the SHEQ Manager with maintaining ISO standards (9001 & 14001).
