    Position Summary
    We are seeking a dedicated and organized Health and Safety Administrator to join our team at our ready-mix concrete plant in the Edmonton area. This is a plant-based, full-time position, working Monday to Friday. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and proactive individual with a strong mentorship and partnership mentality, focused on fostering a safe work environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records and tracking sheets for incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.
  • Update and revise Safe Work Procedures (SWPs) and company safety policies as needed to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices. Review SWPs with employees as required.
  • Book safety training for staff within the RMC Group of Companies.
  • Document training certificates for completed safety courses amongst plant staff. Advise supervisors of employee training requirements and deadlines.
  • Coordinate site access orientations with our clients.
  • Track and manage subcontractor orientations for plant work.
  • Procure, manage and maintain inventory of safety supplies and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Lead comprehensive safety orientations for new hires, temporary employees, and contractors.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of safety training materials.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee safety needs and concerns, providing support and guidance.
  • Assist in incident investigations within the RMC Group of Companies.
  • Participate and facilitate COR Audit processes.
  • Escort workers to medical appointments or for modified work requirements as necessary.
  • Partner with plant management, supervisors, and employees to champion a positive safety culture.
  • Approach all safety issues with a mentorship mindset, coaching employees on safe work practices rather than solely enforcing rules.

Qualifications

  • Occupational Health and Safety graduate from a formally recognized educational institution.
  • Frontline safety-related experience, preferably within a construction setting is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to Alberta.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license, clean abstract and reliable transportation are required.
