WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking a highly motivated professional, likely with up to five years of experience, who is eager to grow within the organisation. You should be a self-starter with good coaching skills and the ability to establish governance and reporting processes that involve others, to deliver outcomes. The ideal candidate will have experience in safety plus at least one other area like audit, risk, quality, or environment.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

  • 4+ years in Safety or a related field.
  • Certificate IV Occupational Health and Safety or higher.
  • Comfort with senior leader engagement and debate.
  • Ability to facilitate groups of people from across a business to solve problems and drive outcomes.
  • A strong desire to enable business through safety, not restrict it.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE AND TEAM

As our new Health and Safety Advisor, you’ll report to Thomas - Head of Health Safety Environment Quality and Risk. This role is a key position, focusing on coaching and driving safety practices with safety leaders and contract leads. Your main goal will be to advance safety maturity, conduct audits, manage risk, and support compliance frameworks across contracts. Based in Melbourne, Victoria, this role offers a hybrid work model and includes local and national travel for essential site visits.

IN THE ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Drive the development and implementation of comprehensive safety and business assurance frameworks and plans.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with business leaders to elevate safety awareness.
  • Support robust governance programmes to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Develop and implement programmes for monitoring and reviewing HSE performance.
  • Champion organisational change initiatives and facilitate continuous learning.
  • Forge strategic partnerships with contractors and service providers to mitigate risk.
  • Indirectly manage Safety staff employed into contracts.
  • Maintain effective liaison with Regional and Group HSEQ teams.
