Medcor Canada is seeking qualified Safety Personnel, for a project providing Safety Management Support in Baie-Saint- Paul, Quebec. This position will provide oversight, education and monitor compliance to the work sites, travel will be required.

The function of the on-site Safety Advisor is to consult with contractors and clients and provide recommendations to eliminate or control hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment and machine operations which may lead to human injury and/or property damage. Must apply safety principles, standards, practices and analytical techniques.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Conduct regular safety inspections of the site to identify potential hazards and risks, including documentation requirements. Additionally, ensure audits and corrective actions are recorded in the EHS Insights system and daily safety reports for tracking and management.
- Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
- Provide safety training to employees on topics such as emergency procedures, hazard recognition, and personal protective equipment.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and develop corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain safety records and documentation, including incident reports, training records, and inspection findings.
- Collaborate with site management and employees to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives, making recommendations for improvements as needed.
- Stay current in industry with the best practices and regulatory requirements to ensure the site remains in compliance with safety standards.
- Serve as a resource for employees regarding safety concerns, questions, and issues.
- Participate in safety committees and meetings to discuss safety performance, trends, and initiatives.
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Certification in occupational health and safety, such as OSHA 30-hour General Industry or Construction Safety, required.
- CRSP/NCSO Certification
- Previous experience in a safety-related role, such as a safety technician, safety coordinator, or safety specialist, is typically preferred.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and standards, such as OSHA, EPA, and NFPA, as well as industry-specific regulations.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate safety policies and procedures to employees.
- Ability to conduct safety inspections, identify hazards, and develop corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate safety records and documentation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others to promote a culture of safety at the site.
- Willingness to stay current on industry best practices and regulatory requirements through continuing education and professional development opportunities
- Must be bilingual
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Ability to perform basic word processing and generate spreadsheets as necessary. Also, access and use the Internet and E-mail.
