Job Description
SGS are looking for a proactive and collaborative Health & Safety Advisor to champion workplace health, safety, and wellbeing across our operations in Wingfield. Regular travel to site will be required. In this role, you’ll work closely with leaders, teams, and contractors to embed safe systems of work, strengthen our safety culture, and ensure compliance with all relevant WHS legislation and company standards.

Responsibilities for the role will include, however not limited to:

  • Support the rollout and integration of the SGS Management System and site Safe Systems of Work (SSoW).
  • Coach and mentor managers, supervisors, and team members to understand and apply safety requirements in daily operations.
  • Deliver safety briefings, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns to engage and inform the workforce.
  • Identify site training and competency needs based on corporate objectives, legislation, and risk profile.
  • Ensure all personnel understand their obligations under OSH/WHS legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, codes of practice, and organisational standards.
  • Support hazard identification, risk assessment, and implementation of controls.
  • Promote consistent risk management practices, ensuring workers are trained in tools such as Take 5s and JHAs.
  • Assist in developing, reviewing, and testing emergency management procedures.
  • Conduct inspections, safety observations, and audits to monitor compliance with the Safety Management System, legislation, and best practice.
  • Undertake regular site visits to assess processes, risk management, safety behaviours, inspections, and audits

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • Diploma in Health & Safety (minimum) with a degree or post-graduate qualification desirable; or equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing or petroleum industries is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of Australian WHS legislation, standards, and codes of practice.
  • Experience in a similar role within multi-site or multi-business environments.
  • Current National Police Clearance and driver licence.
