Description

Steel Build is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented HSE Assistant to join our team. This role involves supporting the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) department in implementing safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and managing critical HSE documentation. The ideal candidate will play a key role in organizing, maintaining, and controlling Health and Safety related documents, while also providing administrative support to the HSE team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the HSE team in implementing and maintaining safety policies and procedures across the workplace.
  • Monitor and update HSE documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company and legal requirements.
  • Manage and control HSE records, including incident reports, audits, training records, and certifications.
  • Provide administrative support to HSE team members, including scheduling meetings, preparing reports, and maintaining databases.
  • Assist in preparing safety meeting minutes, toolbox talks, and other safety-related communications.
  • Support in organizing safety training programs and maintaining records of employee training.
  • Liaise with site personnel to ensure proper document flow and adherence to HSE protocols.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a Health and Safety support or document control role, preferably in construction or manufacturing industries.
  • Cert IV in Work Health & Safety (or working towards) highly regarded.
  • Strong understanding of OHS regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in document management systems and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant certification or qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • Experience with HSE management systems and safety reporting tools.
  • Experience with Greenstar highly regarded.
