Confluence Water, a Downer, Ventia and Jacobs Joint Venture, is one of three regional consortia delivering design, construction, maintenance and facilities management services for Sydney Water. As the North Delivery team, we stretch from Sydney Harbour to the Hawkesbury River, including the Hills Shire. Confluence Water is Sydney Water's partner responsible for the delivery of an unprecedented pipeline of capital works as part of a 10-year program. Reporting to the Head of Zero Harm - Water, this full-time 12-month parental leave cover is to work for a Tier One, best-in-class construction business and your opportunity to lead a business partnering model where operations own safety - and your team are the coaches, mentors and technical experts who make that possible. You’ll lift capability and ensure our approach to health & safety is practical, embedded and sustainable across the business. This is a critical leadership role focused on coaching and influencing operational leaders, strengthening critical risk controls, driving insights through performance reporting, and ensuring consistent application of The Downer Standard. You’ll also lead the rhythm of governance - audits, risk tools, investigations and improvement, and develop a high-performing H&S team. ABOUT YOU We’re looking for someone who is: A credible, visible leader who can influence outcomes through relationships and collaboration Data-driven and decisive with the ability to translate trends into timely interventions A practical change agent who can lift maturity and build leaders who own safety Calm under pressure, values-driven, and confident to challenge constructively What you’ll bring: Diploma/Advanced Diploma in WHS (or Cert IV with willingness to complete Diploma) Minimum 5 years HSE experience in high-risk industries (construction/infrastructure preferred) Minimum 2 years leadership/management experience leading a high-performing team Strong Critical Risk capability Investigation leadership (ICAM / lead investigator capability essential) Audit leadership experience (internal audits, corrective actions, readiness for external audits) Strong reporting, trending and analysis skills (Power BI capability beneficial) Injury management / workers compensation experience Current and valid Driver’s Licence required WHAT WE OFFER Suite of benefits including health and wellness initiatives.
