JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking for a Health and Safety Coordinator to assist our projects team with overseeing various projects throughout the year.
An excellent Construction H&S Coordinator must be familiar with the basics of construction methodologies and procedures and able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines/trades to achieve the best results. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and great organizational skills. Experience with managing and monitoring Health and Safety Programs such as COR is an asset.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists the project manager and superintendent with Project Start-up and planning
  • Collaborating with customers, engineers, architects, subcontractors, and tradespersons
  • Assist in documentation tracking for H&S on projects
  • Monitoring Health and Safety standards and ensuring safety policies are up to date
  • Purchasing supplies, tools and materials
  • Offer advice and support in the event of an incident or as questions arise on site
  • Prepare project close out documents
  • Monitor H&S documentation and maintain records for various projects and sites
  • Attend site meetings and conduct inspections as needed
  • Schedule training and ensure records are up to date
  • Lead internal and external COR audits
  • Coordinate joint health and safety committee functions and actively participate on the committee

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid G class driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
  • Technical Diploma or Certificate, and/or equivalent knowledge & experience is preferred
  • experience in commercial general contracting is preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
  • Highly organized with strong analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-directed with an ability to work autonomously
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites, MS Project & BlueBeam Revu
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety in Construction and provincial regulations
  • Conduct inspections of job sites, facilities, and equipment for compliance with general and specific safety standards; follow-up on any non-compliance issues and take appropriate action to remedy
  • Experience with incident investigations and reviews, audits of subcontractor safety management systems, loss control programs, and non-compliance issues, prepare reports and make recommendations for changes as necessary
  • Ability to speak to, deliver messaging to, both small and large groups of varied backgrounds and experience
  • Familiar with OHSA and regulations (mining, industrial & construction) including Energy Isolation (LOTO), Confined Space (CS), Machine Guarding and Working at Heights (WAH)

    Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
