JOB DESCRIPTION
You will support the delivery of the Met Office’s Safety Management System, helping to promote and foster a positive health and safety culture. You will maintain our information, tools hub and coordinate our training and systems.
Your key duties:
- Co-ordinate health and safety inspections and audits.
- Review health and safety key performance indicator (KPI) compliance data to identify gaps or trends in compliance.
- Prepare statistics and analysis for health and safety papers.
- Review DSE self-assessments completed by staff and organise second level assessments, where required.
- Co-ordinate first aid training, including monitoring of certificate expiry dates.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Keep evolving: Ability to critically analyse data in order to identify patterns, gaps, trends, and root cause.
- Better together: Proven ability to effectively build and maintain relationships with internal and external business stakeholders.
- Expert by nature: Evidence of using Microsoft Office 365 applications to support business operations including SharePoint, Power BI, Forms, Excel, Word, Planner etc in addition to bespoke systems.
- Force for good: Proven ability to prepare written reports, update internal records, and dashboards that will help support our organisation’s purpose of helping to make better decisions to stay safe and thrive.
- Live and breathe it: Proven ability to support the daily operation of internal management systems and identify key business requirements within areas of responsibility.
Desirable Criteria:

- Completed health and safety training or entry level course (e.g. IOSH Managing Safely or similar) or experience with desk-based ergonomics and display screen equipment assessments.
