TRAINING & EDUCATION (20%)

  • Ensure all workers receive mandatory safety training before site access.
  • Deliver training directly or coordinate certified trainers, ensuring all documentation meets legal retention requirements.
  • Provide supervisor training on their legal responsibilities under the ESA, OH&S Regulations, and the Canada Labour Code.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO), or equivalent designation.
  • Proven leadership experience in construction safety management with multi-site responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC OH&S Regulation, BC Employment Standards Act, and Canada Labour Code Part II.
  • Experience with COR certification maintenance and audits.
  • Strong communication, investigation, and training delivery skills.

Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

The HSE Supervisor plays a critical role in creating and maintaining a safe, healthy work environment in full compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations, the BC Employment Standards Act, the Canada Labour Code Part II, and any other applicable provincial or territorial OH&S legislation.
Based primarily in Metro Vancouver, this role will also require travel to other BC project sites as needed. The HSE Supervisor develops and enforces safety policies, oversees regulatory compliance, ensures training meets or exceeds legislative standards, and serves as the principal company representative for all EH&S matters. The position ensures operations meet or surpass due diligence requirements to protect workers, the public, and the company.
