Development Position Overview:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the ideal candidate is driven, motivated and looking to expand their career in both the Health and Safety and Human Resource Department. We offer the ability to apply your creativity to our dynamic work environment that is provincially COR and SECOR certified. This opportunity is rewarding for an individual who is creative, solution-oriented, client centered and technically organized. You will be experienced and able to provide both health and safety advice, as well as guide ownership in Human Resource policies and procedures, with successful outcomes working effectively with internal and external processes. A team player who is adaptable to a fast environment and able to work collaboratively with all levels in the organization.
Education and Experience:
Health and Safety Administrator
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position or equivalent combination of field experience and training. Extensive knowledge of provincial and federal safety regulations, with a focus on WorkSafe BC, and knowledge of Alberta and Saskatchewan OHS/WCB is an asset.
- Occupational Health and Safety Committee Training
- First Aid Certification
- NCSO or HSA designation
- Experience with SiteDocs and ISNet World
- BCCSA COR Auditor Certification
- The following would be an asset: Fall Protection Inspector and Certified FIT Tester
The key responsibilities of our Health and Safety Administrator will be, but not limited to:
- Understand and enforce policies and programs as well as all applicable Occupational/Workplace Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation.
- Ensure all established safety policies are administered and enforced in all areas.
- Provide information, instruction, and assistance to all supervisory staff in order to protect the health and ensure the safety of all employees.
- Monitor project safety and hold supervisory personnel accountable for their individual safety performance.
- Participate in the Occupational Health and Safety Committee
- Travel as required to jobsites to complete inspections, and if required, investigations. This would include interprovincial travel (Alberta, SK)
- Maintain the company safety program, including making any necessary updates due to legislative changes, review Safe Work Practices and Safe Job Procedures annually, work with technicians to create new SWP/SJPs as required, ensure SiteDocs and ISNet are updated as required, and other duties as required
- Ensure continued COR and SECOR Certifications in all provinces that USI works in
Human Resource Administrator
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position. A significant understanding of British Columbia’s Employment Standards, with a knowledge of Alberta and Saskatchewan Employment Standards will be an asset.
Education and Experience:
· Working towards the completion of a Human Resource Management Program or equivalent
· A working knowledge of Payroll and Benefits Administration would be an asset
The key responsibilities our Human Resource Administrator will be, but not limited to:
· Maintaining the Company’s HR Manual, ensuring that all updates and changes are communicated to all employees
· Working with the Operations team during the recruiting process. This will include, but not limited to:
o Preparing Job Postings
o Background and Reference Checks
o Onboarding of new employees
