JOB DESCRIPTION

Ready to build your career? We want to hear from you.
Safety is no accident. Join us and actively contribute to Pomerleau’s vision of the importance of health and safety at every stage of the construction process.
As part of a major construction project (over $500 million), we are looking for a Health and Safety Manager to strengthen our HSE culture and ensure operational excellence in the field.

This large-scale mandate will place you at the heart of a complex construction site, where your expertise and leadership will have a direct impact on the project’s performance, culture, and reputation. You will be responsible for implementing the OHS program, rigorously monitoring practices in the field, and continuously improving safety standards.

  • Ensure full implementation of the OHS program on the project, in collaboration with site teams and partners
  • Actively participate in the planning, risk analysis, and mobilization phases of the project
  • Be the OHS point of reference in the field: supervise, advise, and mobilize teams to maintain a proactive safety culture
  • Ensure compliance with applicable OHS laws, regulations, and standards, and intervene in cases of non-compliance
  • Conduct regular audits, identify discrepancies, and recommend concrete corrective measures
  • Lead OHS training sessions, talks, and meetings with workers and subcontractors
  • Follow up on incidents, conduct investigations, and produce the required reports
  • Collaborate with regulatory authorities and represent Pomerleau during inspections or official meetings
  • Compile and analyze project OHS statistics to guide preventive actions
  • Propose innovative improvements to OHS practices to enhance project performance

This role could be for you if you have

  • Significant experience (10 years) in OHS in the construction industry and in health and safety management on construction projects (experience in civil engineering/infrastructure on large-scale projects is desirable)
  • College or university education in health and safety, risk management, or a related field
  • Knowledge of provincial OHS laws and regulations and industry best practices
  • Leadership in the field, ability to motivate teams and manage priorities in a demanding environment
  • Proficiency with computer tools (MS Office, OHS tracking platforms, etc.)
  • Clear communication, professional rigor, and passion for safety

Benefits

  • RRSP with up to 5% employer matching
  • Hybrid work model for corporate roles
  • Employee stock ownership program
  • Career growth through real development opportunities
  • Transit pass reimbursement — get to work for free
  • Minimum 4 weeks of vacation from day one

For the past four years, we’ve proudly held the distinction of being one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.
Pomerleau is a national leader in construction, delivering major projects across Canada. We believe in creating a workplace where people feel respected, supported, and empowered to grow.
