Job Introduction
As a Health and Safety Manager with Sodexo Live!, you’ll play a crucial role in enhancing quality of life and serving as a trusted knowledge source. Based at our Sports venues and Catering sites in Glasgow and Edinburgh, this leadership position oversees Health, Safety, Quality, and Environment (HSQE) initiatives, along with Risk Management and Business Continuity Planning. Our Scotland business currently includes operations in the sports stadia, horse racing, cultural destination and events-based sectors. Due to the nature of the business some weekend work will be required.
The role centres on delivering expert support in HSQE, Food Safety, Fire Safety, and employee wellbeing. You’ll provide insightful, data-driven guidance to the leadership team in Scotland (and other areas as needed) and contribute to segment and regional HSQE forums. Supporting the execution of strategic HSEQ plans, you’ll drive improvements in culture and performance through meaningful engagement across all employee levels within Sodexo Live!
This role ensures that business units effectively recognize, record, and manage risks. Through collaboration with management teams, you’ll help implement company standards related to HSEQ, providing a communication channel for local teams to raise safety concerns with senior leaders. You’ll also offer expertise on the Sodexo Management System, including the technology tools, documentation, and processes supporting it.
Regular site visits during both operational and non-operational periods will help ensure compliance with Sodexo’s Safety Management System. Providing direction and feedback to site management, you’ll help maintain high standards across policies and procedures, coordinating with clients where necessary.
This role is perfect for an experienced Health and Safety professional with a strong background in large-scale operations and food safety who enjoys a hands-on, site-focused approach. Joining Sodexo Live! means working in an industry that truly makes an impact, with outstanding opportunities for your growth and development. This is a brand-new position, offering a unique chance to shape the role and make it your own.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Desirable to have Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner, Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner or similar and Environmental management experience and/or qualification
Responsibilities:
- Expert Advice & Leadership: Provide expert guidance on HSQE, food safety, fire safety, and employee wellbeing; represent the company in regional HSQE communities; review incidents and offer actionable recommendations to leadership.
- Strategic Planning: Lead the execution of strategic plans to meet HSQE targets, influencing senior leadership to strengthen culture and performance.
- Risk & Business Continuity: Manage risk through the JCAD system, oversee the Risk Register, support Business Continuity Plan completion and testing.
- Community Engagement: Build a strong HSQE advisor network, contribute to health and safety committee meetings, and ensure actions are effectively communicated and executed at sites.
- Operational Support: Serve as a subject matter expert on key health and safety platforms (Salus, SMS, DMS), provide user training, and ensure prompt resolution of health and safety issues.
- Site Mobilization & Audits: Support new site setups by assessing risks, conducting regular site visits, and performing audits to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
