Job details As a Health & Safety Officer, you will play a key role in supporting and promoting a strong health and safety culture across the business. Working as part of the People & Capability team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health, safety and welfare legislation while providing practical support and guidance to employees and management teams. This is a varied, hands-on role where you will take ownership of day-to-day health and safety activities, support continuous improvement initiatives, coordinate training and compliance programmes, and help drive best practice across the organisation. What will you do Ensure compliance with Irish health & safety legislation, company policies, and internal management systems, maintaining accurate documentation and records. Conduct workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments, and ergonomic assessments, identifying opportunities to improve safety performance and reduce risk. Lead incident investigations, track corrective and preventative actions, and ensure actions are completed within agreed timescales. Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including fire drills, evacuation procedures, emergency equipment management, and First Aid coverage. Manage health & safety training programmes, inductions, compliance training, and training records for employees and contractors. Support internal and external audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance reviews, ensuring audit findings are effectively closed out. Work closely with Workplace, Facilities, and operational teams to support contractor management, permit-to-work processes, workplace projects, and the ongoing maintenance of a safe and compliant working environment. Who you are Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related discipline. Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Health & Safety role, with a strong understanding of Irish health & safety legislation and compliance requirements. Proven experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments, and managing corrective actions. Experience coordinating health & safety training programmes, inductions, and compliance initiatives. Strong administrative, reporting, and organisational skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and promote a positive safety culture across the business. Experience with ISO 45001 management systems, IOSH membership, First Aid qualifications, or experience within workplace/facilities environments would be advantageous.
