HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICER

We are currently seeking a safety professional to work on commercial projects in the Greater Toronto Area.

The ideal candidate must have superb communication abilities and sound management skills. Previous experience as a safety officer in the mechanical commercial sector is required. Reporting to the VP of Safety, duties include;

  • Conduct regular site visits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure hazards are identified, reported, and controlled on all construction sites
  • Participate in the ongoing management of the company’s COR-certified safety program across all construction sites.
  • Communicate and work with site supervisor to eliminate any workplace hazards.
  • Creating Safety Boards for all new construction sites
  • Participate in investigations into incidents, accidents, and near misses
  • Assist with safety orientation and ongoing training for workers and subcontractors.
  • Assist in creating site specific safety plans
  • Ensure all construction projects are operating in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WSIB, and applicable regulations.
  • Representing company at meetings when required

Position requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Safety, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of health and safety experience in the construction industry. Mechanical experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with provincial health and safety legislation, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills in all areas
  • Valid G-class driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Safety certifications [e.g., CHSO, CRSP] are a strong asset

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
