POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a Health & Safety Specialist to lead and support occupational health and safety initiatives across a national operation. This role is responsible for managing safety programs, ensuring compliance with legislation and certification standards, and contributing to a safe and compliant work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent experience.
  • NCSO or NCSA certification is an asset.
  • COR Internal Auditor certification is an asset.
  • Experience with pre-qualification platforms is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Power BI.
  • Experience in claims management and handling complex cases.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Bilingual in French and English is a strong asset.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 15%.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Certificate of Recognition (COR) program in Ontario.
  • Oversee updates and maintenance of the Health & Safety Management System, including document control and COR compliance.
  • Act as technical lead for internal and external audits, managing documentation and audit coordination.
  • Manage compliance on third-party pre-qualification platforms (e.g., ISN, SafeContractor, ComplyWorks).
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance and coordinate with purchasing teams.
  • Liaise with workers’ compensation boards and regional safety teams.
  • Advise on project bid requirements and ongoing customer safety compliance.
  • Manage occupational health and safety claims, including complex cases with third-party providers.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for national health & safety inquiries.
  • Support safety programs across regional teams and update policies annually to maintain legal compliance.
  • Lead implementation and monitoring of new safety initiatives.
  • Administer and maintain the Safety Management System.
  • Participate in safety recognition and excellence programs.
  • Coordinate translation of safety documents.
  • Deliver training and raise awareness on health and safety topics.
