JOB OPPORTUNITY: HEALTH AND WELLBEING COACH (BAND 4)

Location: HMP Full Sutton
Organisation: Rethink Mental Illness, in partnership with Tees, Esk, and Wear Valley NHS Foundation Trust & Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust
Salary: £26,530 - £29,114 per annum (Band 4)
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Experience working with people with mental health needs in a supportive, coaching manner.
  • Skilled in group facilitation and able to build rapport effectively.
  • Relevant training in health education or mental health support (e.g., Peer Support Worker or Coaching).
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with a compassionate, inclusive approach to support diverse backgrounds.

Desirable: Experience in a prison or criminal justice setting and additional mental health training (e.g., Mental Health First Aid).

  • Appointments will be at the minimum of the band.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Rethink Mental Illness is seeking a compassionate Health and Wellbeing Coach to support individuals at HMP Full Sutton as part of our integrated mental health team. You’ll work with residents on Step 1 interventions, providing mental health support to help them manage their recovery, develop goals, and build confidence during their time in prison. This role also involves group facilitation, peer mentor development, and service user engagement activities to promote mental health awareness and support in preparing individuals for release back into the community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Offer self-help guidance, facilitate group activities, and develop peer mentor programs.
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic, person-centred care.
  • Promote mental health awareness by attending forums and facilitating workshops on mental health and recovery.
  • Maintain accurate records, ensuring that clinical data and client information meet high standards of confidentiality.
