Your Opportunity:
This rural 12-bed SL4 unit is located in the Drumheller Health Centre. As a Health Care Aide (HCA) and member of our Coalbanks nursing care team, you will provide direct resident-centered and family-centered care. You will be responsible for providing personal care and assisting with activities of daily living within the client’s authorized plan of care. Clients and their families are assisted to maximize their optimum level of independence. You will provide emotional support by being a good listener, being supportive, being friendly and sincere, and interacting in a positive and optimistic manner. You will provide care not limited to companionship, recreational activities, and supervision. This position is suitable for candidates who have a strong interest and skills in providing care to the elderly client, including those diagnosed with Alzheimer disease or other dementias. Drumheller is situated in a valley, in the Alberta Badlands, 135 km from Calgary, and 160 km from Red Deer. With a population of 8,029, Drumheller residents benefit from a wide variety of recreational facilities and amenities such as the Aquaplex, the Memorial Arena and the Badlands Community Facility for fitness and library resources.
Description:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multi-disciplinary team providing personal assistance including supporting activities of daily living and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this position you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities assisting nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients’ hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs, assisting with organized activities or programs and observing and reporting on a patient’s mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under a regulated health professional you will be assisting in the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors, and maintaining effective communication with patients and health professionals.
