We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Health Care Aide to join our team. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate in Canada and active status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) from Heart and Stroke Foundation within the last 12 months.
  • Effective in verbal and written English with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed time management skills.
  • A proactive, ownership-driven mindset with a willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a developing work environment and schedule.
  • Personal cell phone with an active data plan.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel within the service area. This role requires travel to clients in their homes or in the community every day.
  • Responsible to carry equipment, use and operate a laptop computer/tablet and mobile phone, and for manual handling (lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing and pulling) up to 50 lbs. as a regular part of the job. Learning resources and training are provided to safely perform work.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Must be proficient and have a minimum of 1 year experience with computers.
· Experience and proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR).
· Medication Assistance Certificate or prior experience with Medication Assistance.
· Recent experience in the health care field working with older or chronically ill individuals in a community based setting.
· Home Care experience is preferred.

  • Help with mobility and transfers, ensuring patient safety at all times.
  • Monitor and report changes in patients’ conditions to nursing staff.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to patients.
  • Assist with meal preparation and feeding as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
  • Document patient care activities accurately in accordance with protocols.
  • Follow infection control procedures and adhere to health and safety regulations.
