Description
As a member of the health care team, the HCA supports patient care through patient flow, equipment and supply management, maintenance of a clean, safe environment and participation in selected patient care activities. The HCA provides support to patients, families and those providing service and/or care. The HCA functions according to the job description for Health Care Aides. Grade 12 education; must be able to read and write English proficiently Complete Heart and Stroke Foundation course in CPR (completed within the last 12 months) Completion of Personal Support Worker or Health Care Aide Certificate Minimum 2 years technical experience in a similar role (the handling, reprocessing and care of delicate equipment) within a fast paced health care environment Demonstrated knowledge and skills in using Meditech, Community Wide Scheduling and Sovera Experience maintaining and stocking materials and supplies Working knowledge of Universal Precautions, Additional Precautions and WHMIS Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, collaboration and teamwork skills Ability to accept assigned or delegated functions, set priorities and organize work accordingly in a busy environment. Ability to lift using appropriate lifting techniques and bend, push and pull using good body techniques.
