Description
As a member of the healthcare team, this position provides clinical support in patient care areas, including Emergency Department, 6 South, BTU and ICU according to the job description for Healthcare Aides and under the supervision of a Registered Health Care professional. Follows developed patient care plans, observing and reporting any substantial findings and or changes in patient status and behavior to the appropriate health care team member. Performs tasks delegate according to the tasks that the Health Care Aide has received appropriate training for to carry out. Provides basic personal care for patients in daily living activities, including; assisting patients with transfers, nutrition, bathing, toileting, dressing and other requirements. Assists with ambulation, positioning and transferring. Takes action to ensure the work environment is safe. We are looking for staff who enjoy working in a fast paced, highly skilled, multi-disciplinary patient care environment. 1.Personal Support Worker or Healthcare Aide Certificate or nursing student with successful completion of all level 2 courses at McMaster University or nursing student with successful completion of all level 2 courses in McMaster University and Mohawk College collaborative program or nursing student with successful completion of all level 1 courses in the Mohawk College Diploma program 2. Personal Support Worker or Healthcare Aide Certificate required 3. Demonstrated competence with computer skills 4. Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, teamwork skills and the ability to deal respectfully and effectively with patients, families, health care team member 5. Demonstrated initiative and judgement appropriate for the position 6. Ability to accept assigned or delegated functions 7. Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly to meet deadlines 8. Ability to accept assigned or delegated functions 9. Ability to lift using appropriate lifting techniques and bend push and pull using proper body mechanics 10. Knowledge of infection control policies and procedures 11. 2 years’ experience in Critical Care or Acute Care preferred 12. Computer familiarity or willingness to learn computer skills as required 13. Ability to deal with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively
