ABOUT US

Prince George Brain Injury Group is a not for profit organization that has the only specialized group home for brain injury in the north. This is a 5 bed residence that focuses on quality of life and not just care.
Residential support workers work both independently and as part of the residential team to provide high quality care and support the residents to ensure that their home and belongings are maintained in optimal condition. The job includes provision of all aspects of personal care, and the enhancement of quality of life through recreational, social, and community activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Residential Care Aide or other health related Certificate
  • Current BC Care Aide registry number.
  • Valid British Columbia class 5 drivers license and ability to acquire Class 4(for wheelchair van).
  • Safety oriented first aid certificate, Occupational First Aid
  • Minimum 6 months recent experience in providing personal care.
  • CPR certification (In Occupational First Aid)
  • Valid “Foodsafe” certificate
  • Or/ a comparable combination of education & experience

Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care as per individual needs & personal care plans.
  • Assist individuals in all activities of daily living.
  • Provide instruction and support in the development of independent skills.
  • Administer medications and perform treatment procedures as per Delegation of Task(s).
  • Provide transportation as directed, typically using society wheelchair van.
  • Complete all tasks associated with the maintenance of a clean, safe and, pleasing environment. Tasks include general housekeeping, shopping, occasional “deep cleaning”, yard work, minor maintenance etc.
  • Complete documentation of daily events, medical concerns, medical visits, incidents, program data and other information as directed and as necessary.
  • Actively participate in the rehabilitation team by providing support to team members, sharing skills and knowledge, and providing feedback geared to the provision of optimal care during assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation processes.
