JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Health Care Aides (HCAs) to join our growing team. This role involves providing one-on-one care to seniors and individuals with disabilities in their homes. You will play a critical part in maintaining their comfort, safety, and well-being while supporting independence and quality of life.
This is a client-facing role that requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to follow care plans developed by our RN Care Coordinator, and a commitment to maintaining a high standard of care.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • HCA certification or equivalent relevant caregiving experience
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector) required
  • Experience in caregiving, particularly with seniors or individuals with disabilities
  • Comfortable performing physical tasks including lifting and mobility support
  • Familiarity with patient care protocols or experience in hospice, assisted living, or home support settings is an asset
  • Reliable transportation required—clients are located throughout Greater Victoria
  • Strong communication skills and a compassionate, client-focused attitude
  • COVID-19 vaccination preferred
Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care including bathing, grooming, toileting, and dressing
  • Assist with safe mobility and transfers (e.g., walker/wheelchair use, bed-to-chair transfers)
  • Support light housekeeping tasks such as laundry, dishes, and cleaning
  • Prepare meals and assist with nutritional needs
  • Offer companionship, conversation, and emotional support
  • Monitor and report any changes in client condition or behaviour
  • Support clients with medication reminders as directed by care plan
  • Engage clients in appropriate physical and mental wellness activities
  • Maintain a clean, respectful, and safe care environment
  • Document client updates and communicate regularly with the Care Coordinator
