OVERVIEW

The Healthcare Assistant plays a vital role in supporting medical staff and ensuring the highest level of patient care in various healthcare settings. This position requires a compassionate individual who is dedicated to assisting patients with their needs while maintaining a safe and efficient environment. The Healthcare Assistant will work closely with healthcare professionals in hospitals, clinics, and urgent care facilities, providing essential support in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

SKILLS

  • Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology to understand patient needs effectively.
  • Familiarity with dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine, and emergency medicine practices.
  • Experience in medical administrative support, including intake processes and EHR systems management.
  • Proficiency in handling patient care tasks such as medication administration and vital sign monitoring.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate effectively within the healthcare team.
  • Experience working in various settings such as Level I and Level II trauma centers, PICU, geriatrics, medical-surgical units, internal medicine clinics, or outpatient facilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also demonstrating independence when required. This role is essential for maintaining high standards of care within the healthcare system. Candidates should be prepared to engage actively with patients while supporting the overall mission of providing quality healthcare services.
Responsibilities

DUTIES

  • Assist with patient intake, including gathering medical history and relevant information.
  • Monitor and record vital signs to ensure patient stability.
  • Provide basic life support when necessary and assist during emergency situations.
  • Administer medications as prescribed by healthcare providers.
  • Support patients with daily activities, ensuring comfort and dignity.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in EHR systems, including ICD coding and medical terminology.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to deliver comprehensive patient care.
  • Prepare patients for examinations or procedures, including X-ray or OR experiences.
  • Assist in managing patient flow within the clinic or hospital environment.
  • Engage with patients to provide exceptional service and address their concerns.

HOUSEHOLD TASKS:

  • Cleaning: Maintaining a clean and safe living environment, including laundry and tidying up.
  • Meal Preparation: Cooking meals according to dietary needs and preferences.
  • Shopping: Assisting with grocery shopping and other errands.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitoring Health: Observing and reporting any changes in a client’s physical or mental health.
  • Communication: Maintaining clear communication with clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Following Care Plans: Adhering to specific care plans and instructions provided by healthcare professionals.
  • Confidentiality: Maintaining client privacy and confidentiality.
  • Professionalism: Maintaining a professional demeanor and adhering to ethical guidelines.
