Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our team in providing high-quality care and support to patients/residents. The role involves assisting service users with daily living activities, promoting dignity and independence, and supporting the wider healthcare team to deliver excellent standards of care.

REQUIREMENTS

FETAC/QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support (or equivalent, minimum two modules completed).
Previous experience in a healthcare or residential care setting is an advantage but not always required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work as part of a team and also independently.
A caring, compassionate, and patient-focused approach.
Flexibility to work shifts including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

Manual Handling, Patient Moving & Handling, CPR, and Infection Control training.
Experience working with older people, individuals with dementia, or persons with disabilities.

Responsibilities

Provide personal care to patients/residents including washing, dressing, feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance.
Support individuals with activities of daily living while maintaining their dignity, comfort, and independence.
Assist with meal preparation and feeding where required.
Observe, monitor, and record patients’ conditions and report any changes to the nurse in charge.
Assist nursing staff with clinical and non-clinical duties as directed.
Support patients’ emotional, social, and psychological needs.
Maintain a safe, clean, and caring environment in line with infection control policies.
Assist in the moving and handling of residents using appropriate equipment and techniques.
Adhere to Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) standards and internal policies.
Respect confidentiality and act in a professional, caring, and empathetic manner at all times.
