Job Title: Healthcare Assistant
Reports to: Health Care Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time – 42 Hours per Week

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

• Prior experience in a similar care capacity (up to 1 year) is a clear advantage.
• QQI Level 5 (FETAC) or equivalent qualification, or willingness to complete a Healthcare Assistant course within two years of employment.
• Kind, compassionate, and patient nature.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will work closely with the Nursing and multidisciplinary team to support the daily care needs of residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and psychological wellbeing in line with individual care plans.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

• Assisting residents with all activities of daily living, including mobility, toileting, continence care, personal hygiene, grooming, nutrition, hydration, and pressure area care.
• Delivering person-centred care with a high level of professionalism, compassion, dignity, and respect at all times.
• Supporting residents in maintaining their independence and participating in social, recreational, and therapeutic activities.
• Building and maintaining positive, respectful relationships with residents, families, and colleagues.
• Ensuring a safe, clean, and comfortable environment by adhering to hygiene, infection prevention and control protocols.
• Accurately recording and reporting relevant information related to resident care, including any concerns regarding their health or wellbeing.
• Reporting any hazards, incidents, or faulty equipment promptly to the Nurse in Charge or Maintenance team.
• Maintaining confidentiality of all resident and organizational information in accordance with policy and legislation.
• Actively participating in ongoing training, in-service education, and staying up to date with current best practices in elderly care.
• Supporting a collaborative approach to care by working effectively with the wider healthcare, administrative, catering, maintenance, and pastoral care teams.
