OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
Working under the direction of the Centre Manager, the Healthcare Assistant will provide appropriate care support to the service users.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o Attend to service user’s needs.
Where applicable to the Healthcare Assistant Role:
o Carry out a range of care tasks for residents as indicated in their care plan and as directed by your manager. These tasks include personal care, light household care and social care such as: assisting residents to dress/undress, assist with feeding, assist with toileting and personal hygiene, prompting residents to take medication, preparing and cooking meals, householding cleaning tasks, making beds, shopping.
o Maintain written records of residents visited as required.
o Ensure that resident services are delivered by working within a flexible team rota and to be flexible as regards to the duties they undertake.
o Able to work on your own initiative and to take guidance from others when needed.
o Assist with activities.
o Assist with day services.
o Report any concerns about a resident to your line manager immediately.
o At all times to present a professional and caring image and to demonstrate behaviours reflective of Dublin Central Mission’s ethos of Welcoming, Serving and Supporting.
o To adhere to resident confidentiality and GDPR guidelines.
o The Healthcare Assistant is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of themselves and others so far as is reasonably practicable.
o Be familiar and comply with the safety, health and welfare provisions as set out in the Safety Statement, safety regulations and prevailing safety legislation.
o Attend all mandatory Health & Safety Training and participate in fire drills and observe fire orders.
o Report all accidents/incidents/near misses within Ailt An Oir in line with Health and Safety Legislation.
o Complete training requirements to maintain competency and capability.
o Identify professional education and learning needs
o Take on other such duties as Management may require from time to time.
o Develop an understanding / knowledge of regulatory bodies and the role they play in elder care.
o Work as an active member of the team and attend staff meetings as required.
