JOB TITLE: HEALTHCARE ASSISTANT (HCA) – PART-TIME (3 DAYS PER WEEK)

Responsible to: Practice Manager / Lead Nurse
Hours: 22.5
Salary: Dependent on experience

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our GP practice team on a part-time basis (3 days per week). The HCA will work under the guidance of the nursing and clinical team to provide high-quality patient care, supporting both clinical and administrative functions of the practice.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant in a primary care or clinical setting
• Phlebotomy trained
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organisational and time management abilities
• Basic IT skills and experience with clinical systems ( EMIS )

• Phlebotomy (blood taking)
• Blood pressure measurement and recording
• ECGs
• Health checks (NHS Health Checks, new patient checks, etc.)
• Wound care and dressings
• Urinalysis and sample collection
• Chaperoning clinicians during examinations/procedures
• Flu and other vaccinations (if trained)
• Supporting chronic disease monitoring clinics (e.g. diabetes, hypertension)
• Recording clinical information accurately in patient records
• Sterilisation and infection control duties
• Stock control and preparation of clinical rooms
• Supporting reception/admin teams when required
• Supporting patients with general health and wellbeing advice (within competency)
