Description

The James Clinic is expanding, and we’re looking for a compassionate and dedicated provider (MD, DO, NP, or PA) to join our clinic location in Chariton, IA. This role includes a mix of in-person and virtual care, with both part-time and full-time opportunities available. Duties:

  • Responsible for delivering comprehensive, personalized care to our patients—both in-person and virtually—with a strong focus on functional and holistic medicine.
  • Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including medical histories, physical exams, and review of current health concerns.
  • Provide care for acute and chronic conditions, including but not limited to sick visits, routine follow-ups, and management of complex cases.
  • Perform minor office procedures such as wound care, biopsies, joint injections, and other in-scope treatments.
  • Deliver well-woman care (e.g., pap smears, breast exams) and well-child visits (including growth/development tracking and vaccinations).
  • Participate in cancer care support, including treatment planning, symptom management, and coordination with specialists.
  • Manage and monitor patient medications, including prescribing, refilling, adjusting dosages, and ensuring medication safety and compliance.
  • Develop personalized care plans for each concierge patient, using functional/holistic principles.
  • Build long-term relationships with patients based on trust, empathy, and proactive wellness strategies.
  • Coordinate care with internal staff to ensure a seamless patient experience.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Stay current with best practices in primary care, integrative medicine, and functional health.
  • Serve as a positive resource for staff questions, guidance, and support related to patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with clinical standards

Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school, or
  • NP or PA from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Current and valid Iowa state license to practice as a Physician (MD/DO), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA)
  • Board certification or eligibility in primary care or related specialty (preferred)
  • DEA license
  • 3+ years of experience in healthcare or a clinical setting
  • Holistic or Functional Medicine practice experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of clinical workflows, patient care procedures, and healthcare best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organization skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract
Pay: $60.00 - $65.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
