Description

We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
This Health Care Support Worker post is based in the Plastic Surgery Out-Patient Department at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
The Plastic Surgery is Regional Service that covers the West of Scotland. Patients attend Plastic Surgery for Breast Reconstruntion, Surgical Treatment of Skin Cancer, Trauma injuries as well as more general plastic surgery. Within the service is a multi-disciplinary team with medical staff, nurses, healthcare support workers, physiotherapists and specialist nurses.
The HCSW post within the Plastic Surgery OPD is an exciting post as it has evolved to support Registered Nurses provide wound care for the patient group we care for. We also work closely with our periphery hospitals and refer our patients to community colleagues based in local treatment rooms and district nursing teams. As part of a team of Registered Nurses and HCSWs the post holder supports the delivery of safe care by ensuing that a safe and clean environment is maintained.
To support learning in the post there is Competency Programme which includes learning specific to the speciality as well as core learning for all HCSW. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to work to high standards in a fast-paced environment. The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate that they can be flexible, forward thinking and able to work effectively within a changing and dynamic environment. Previous experience in acute hospital setting is desirable but not essential, basic IT skills are necessary. Working hours are Monday-Friday 9am-5pm (pro rata)
