POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for managing the personnel and project progress at the Health Communication Design Studio. To do so, they will act as a liaison for the designers employed by the Studio as well as the external project leads working with the Studio on a specific deliverable. They will work closely with the Studio Director to prioritize internal and external tasks on a weekly timeline as well as assist in staffing. Internally, the Studio Project Coordinator will act as the first point of contact for Studio designers, leading weekly Studio meetings, delegating project tasks, and troubleshooting. On the project-facing side, they will complete correspondence, attend project-specific meetings to track progress and identify new tasks.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design or related fields.
  • Proficiency in project tracking Google Sheets, Figma and Excel.
  • Knowledgeable about community-based participatory design practices.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience providing creative problem-solving and advocacy skills.
  • Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
  • Proficiency in using Figma as a prototyping and iteration tool.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented environment.
  • Design sensibilities in type, color and layout.
  • Strong interest, knowledge, and skill in working in the intersection between health and design.

Responsibilities

Serve as a liaison between project leads and the Health Communication Design Studio to usher deliverables from inception to completion.

  • Foster strong, communicative relationships with project leads and project partners.
  • Communicate with members of individual project teams as needed to gain information and feedback.
  • Create agendas, lead and follow-up from project-based meetings.
  • Create weekly, monthly and longer-term project plans, keep track of deadlines and schedule meetings as needed.
  • Review meeting takeaways, monitor activity, and translate discussion into action items and next steps.
  • Attend meetings on behalf of the Director when needed to take notes and relay information.
  • Support other ongoing projects relating to funded partnerships.

Support the development and publication of work completed by the Studio through:

  • Design of print, graphic, or digital deliverables to support project needs.
  • Identification of publication opportunities.
  • Drafting, writing, and preparing relevant aspects for publication.

Coordinate Studio design work across all designers and all projects.

  • Work with Studio designers and researchers to delegate tasks, maintain a smooth workflow, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Plan (e.g., create agendas), lead and follow up from weekly, full-Studio check-ins.
  • Review and provide feedback on proposed ideas and designed deliverables.
  • Create weekly summaries of Studio work to communicate progress back to project partners.

Maintain Studio project, hiring, and management workflows so that projects are completed with efficiency.

  • Identify and propose solutions to areas of improvement.
  • Meet with relevant Sam Fox and Brown School leadership as needed for support.
