Description IHRC Inc. seeks a dedicated and experienced, senior level Health Communications Specialist to support our clients at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)/Coronavirus and Other Respiratory Viruses Division (CORVD). CORVD’s mission is to provide the health of people by preventing illness, disability and death from respiratory viruses through public health science and practice in the United States and globally. This position is needed for accomplishing CORVD’s mission. *This position is contingent upon contract award. Work with CORVD and other appropriate Chief Information Officer (CIOs) or Office of Communications (OC) to coordinate health and risk communication content development. Provide consultation services to manage reporting requirements, including developing communication slides for meetings. Work with other subject matter experts (SME) and programs to create new messaging and adapt existing messages to be consistent with health and risk communication science, principles, and requirements, including plain language, timeliness, and audience appropriateness. Translate complex health and risk communication information into messages for a variety of audiences. Use health communication strategy and principles to create content such as web copy, fact sheets, social media messages, and response to CDC-INFO site (public facing). Work closely with CORVD leadership and communication team to devise and implement strategies for reaching specific audiences. Write, edit, and collaborate with graphic artists, audio/visual producers, media designers, and/or web developers to produce and disseminate a range of materials. Coordinate and track tasks for specific projects and tasks. Attend relevant CORVD, Center, or OC social media discussions/meetings/calls and other relevant or required meetings/calls and advise clients with recommendations or risk mitigation. Prepare or assist in preparation of rollout plans and communication packages to support major releases, new studies, and other announcements. Help to manage social media content and engagement. When needed, provide supervision and guidance to junior level staff. Requirements MS with 10+ years’ experience Strong proofreading skills and attention to detail Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills Ability to multitask and be flexible in emergency situations Knowledge and experience with various communication theories Knowledge and experience with Risk Communication Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and MS SharePoint Experience with 508 compliance requirements Desired Qualifications Experience working in a public health setting, preferably with CDC
