Overview About the Role The primary purpose of the Health Educator II position is to assist with the planning, organizing, and implementation of health education programs in the Department. Identifies and promotes individual and public awareness of health needs and sound practices. Coordinates projects for health initiatives including project research and development, and annual reports. Responsibilities What You’ll Do Supports the planning, organization, and execution of health education programs within the department. Promotes awareness of individual and community health needs and encourages healthy practices. Coordinates health-related projects, including research, development, and reporting. Assists in preparing annual reports and documentation for health initiatives. Conducts and participates in teaching patients and family members on topics related to the services offered in the Cancer Center. Documents all patient contact in the electronic medical record according to University Hospital policy. Screens patients for barriers to learning and documents in the electronic medical record. Makes appropriate referrals for patient navigation and follow up based on designated screening criteria Understands and adheres to University Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in University Hospital's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and University Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and asthey change or are modified. Qualifications What You’ll Bring Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or a related field plus two (2) years of health education experience required OR Master’s Degree in Public Health or a related field plus one (1) year of health education experience required Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred Oncology experience preferred Certification as a Health Educator Specialist required within two (2) years of hire Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills Must be an effective communicator with diverse groups of people (e.g., individuals with disabilities, families, professionals, community leaders, government officials) Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs is required Equivalent experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements on a year-for-year basis What We Offer Medical & Prescription Drug Coverage Dental & Vision Insurance Health Savings Account (HSA) & Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Short- & Long-Term Disability Insurance Pension Plan Pet Insurance Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Professional Development Compensation (NJ Job Transparency Law) The expected salary range for this position is $65,667 - $78,977 - $93,969 per year, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
