DEFINITION OF POSITION: Directly responsible for quality instruction of 9th-12th grade health and/or physical education
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Building Principal

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Possess a Washington State Teaching Certificate with a Health/Fitness endorsement
• Teaching, substituting, or student teaching experience in either health and/or physical education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Endorsements in other core academic subject areas
• Experience as a Health/Fitness teacher
• Experience teaching at the high school level
• Experience with weight training as an instructor or participant
• Demonstrated knowledge of basic computer skills including word processing and e-mail
• Evidence of participation in building and school committees and/or activities
• Knowledge of the unique needs of high school students
• Ability to create a warm and inviting learning environment for students
• Ability to recognize conditions which may lead to disciplinary problems
