POSITION SUMMARY DEFINITION Under direction, perform the work in the processing and examination of medical records, to assist in the preparation of regular and special reports related to medical services in an accurate, timely and complete manner; and to complete other related work as required. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way would be: Experience Minimum (6) month clerical experience KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES Knowledge of: Principles and practices of medical record keeping including knowledge of applicable information systems. Medical terminology. Preparation of medical records, filing and records storage, indexing, statistical reporting, security and confidentiality of the records. Laws, rules and regulations affecting medical records. Modern office management, organization and equipment. Proper English construction and grammar. Ability to: Apply and interpret complex rules and regulations related to the medical records programs. Prepare correspondence and reports. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective relations with others.
