POSITION SUMMARY

The Health Information Management Specialist will perform a variety of duties associated with maintaining client health records in accordance with Aspire policies and procedures, in addition to ensuring they meet the requirements of accrediting bodies (Joint Commission, etc.), HIPAA and billing standards. The Health Information Management Specialist maintains all health records both in electronic and paper files according to HIPAA security and privacy rules.

  • Process and track health information requests according to state, federal and organizational policies
  • Assist with processing correspondence, including subpoenas, court orders, and other legal documentation in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Prepare and transmit health record documents via photocopying, faxing, scanning, or secure electronic methods
  • Release of Information (ROI) Coordination
  • Receive or Request and upload Releases of Information (ROI) as required, ensuring proper authorization and documentation.
  • Scan, upload, and accurately index documents into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system(s) in a timely manner ensuring accuracy and completeness.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • One year of medical records/health information experience required
  • Proficiency in Google applications (docs, sheets, gmail, etc.) required
  • Must have intermediate to advanced data entry skills
  • Experience with an Electronic Health Record preferred
