In this role you will assist the Health Information Department in developing and maintaining an efficient electronic medical records system that will benefit the quality health care of all patients. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Collect, date stamp, and review all medical record documentation received by fax or mail. Scan information into the correct tab in the electronic medical record. Route information to the provider for review and/or signature in the electronic medical record. Maintains electronic medical records system and implements improvements in cooperation with the Supervisor-Health Information Management. Maintains the integrity of the Health Information Department by abiding by confidentiality and storage policies. Works in cooperation with supervisors and managed care entities to perform medical chart reviews. Collect and review releases of information and distribute within the medical records department. Document receipt and transfer of complete release of information in a timely manner. Abides by infection control policies and procedures as dictated in the Centro del Barrio Infection Control Manual. Abides by policies and procedures on hazardous materials as dictated in the Employee Safety Handbook. Participates in the agency's Quality Improvement Program. Abides by all safety policies as dictated in the Employee Safety Manual. One year's experience preferred in medical records setting. Typing/keyboarding skills helpful. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to meet the attendance requirements of the position. Must not pose a threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace. Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted.
