Description Winchester Cardiology and Vascular Medicine is seeking a motivated Health Information Management Specialist. This role supports the delivery of quality patient care by accurately managing medical records, maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, and assisting staff, physicians, and patients with professionalism and a positive attitude. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with electronic systems and medical terminology. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and organize medical records for clinic and imaging appointments to ensure providers have all necessary information. Scan medical histories and related documents into patient charts in the correct order, following department standards. Locate, retrieve, and distribute medical records to physicians, departments, and staff as requested. Ensure accurate and efficient document flow throughout the office. Utilize computer tools, including the Epic EMR system, to access charts, verify information, and manage patient communication tasks. Maintain full compliance with HIPAA regulations and protect patient confidentiality at all times. Sort and distribute incoming faxes efficiently. Communicate with staff regularly to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks. Recommend improvements to enhance departmental workflow, productivity, and efficiency. Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations. Schedule Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Basic knowledge of medical terminology and common medical abbreviations. Proficiency in using computers, telephones, fax machines, and other standard office equipment. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks appropriately and maintain accuracy and integrity in all work. Physical ability to lift and carry up to 15lbs. Strong understanding of HIPAA guidelines with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality and privacy of patient information.
