Status: Temporary Full-Time (Non-Exempt, 90-Day Assignment)

JOIN THE FAMILY HEALTH CENTER TEAM!

Family Health Center (FHC) is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Health Information Management (HIM) Technician to support a critical short-term project. This temporary full-time role will focus on eliminating a backlog of over 13,000 electronic faxes (e-faxes) received in 2024 across our three clinical sites. The successful candidate will help ensure patient information is accurately and securely integrated into our electronic medical records system—supporting seamless care, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a Health Information Management or medical records setting preferred.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMRs); EPIC experience highly preferred.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage high volumes of documentation.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and best practices in handling protected health information (PHI).
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration with team members.
  • Ethical, reliable, and respectful in working with diverse populations.
  • Organized and resourceful with strong time-management and communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Review and accurately process a backlog of e-faxes into the correct patient charts using EPIC EMR.
  • Prioritize and manage workflow to ensure completion of backlog within the 90-day timeline.
  • Collaborate with HIM team members to uphold quality, documentation standards, and compliance.
  • Handle sensitive patient information with discretion, adhering to HIPAA and privacy regulations.
  • Communicate progress and escalate issues to HIM leadership and Medical Oversight as needed.
  • Maintain focus on backlog-related tasks with minimal disruption to daily HIM operations.
