Hospitals & Health Systems
At St John of God Murdoch Hospital our reputation for excellence in clinical care and first class tertiary level services makes us the hospital of choice for both medical professionals and patients.
Since opening in 1994, the hospital has grown to include 525 beds, 18 operating theatres, an Emergency Department, dedicated cancer care centre, WA's largest standalone endoscopy unit and a dedicated Day Procedure Unit.
We provide high-quality services for our community across emergency care, maternity services, orthopaedic surgery and integrated cancer care.
About the role
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Health Information Services Officer to join our Health Information Services team.
In this important role, you will help ensure patient health records are accurately maintained, securely managed, and readily available to support clinical care and hospital operations.
Working within a collaborative environment, you will be responsible for managing health records, scanning and indexing clinical documentation, processing information requests, and providing administrative support to the department. The role provides administrative support to the Clinical Coding team, including conducting daily ward rounds to collect records for coding priorities, maintaining coding databases, and managing coding-related inboxes to support the timely processing of health information.
The role is offered on a permanent full-time basis working 38 hours per week.
Shifts will be rostered between 6:00am and 4:00pm, Monday to Friday, in line with the department's operating hours.
Key responsibilities
Your skills and experience
To succeed in this role, you will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to effectively organise and prioritise your workload to meet deadlines in a busy environment.
You will be a proactive team member who can work both independently and collaboratively to achieve outcomes. Previous experience in a healthcare setting and familiarity with patient administration systems will be highly regarded, as will an understanding of continuous quality improvement and the flexibility to work a range of rostered and additional shifts when required.
Above all, patient care will be at the core of everything you do committing to and supporting our Mission and Values.
All applicants are requested to submit a covering letter (of no more than two (2) pages) demonstrating how you meet the above position requirements.
We can offer you
