Job Title: Health & Safety Advisor
Department: Health and Safety
Reports to: Health and Safety Officer

A key aspect of delivering our mission is to ensure that the Hospital has the policies and procedures to ensure a safe, health risk free workplace, ensuring compliance with legal requirements. The overall purpose of this role is to work under the supervision of the Health and Safety Officer to support the day to day management of Health & Safety Department.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certificate in Health & Safety and Environmental Management (Minimum).

EXPERIENCE

  • Previous work experience preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience in carrying out Risk Assessments
  • Experience in carrying out detailed Fire Risk Assessments
  • Experience in Fire Warden activities and Fire drill procedures.
  • Excellent administrative skills.

COMPETENCIES AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Excellent computer skills/aptitude.
  • Create and promote healthy working relationships.
  • Be methodical, logical, efficient and highly organised.
  • The incumbent will be required to maintain and enhance their knowledge and skills necessary to respond to a changing situation.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the H&S Officer with activities in relation to preparation with JCI Accreditation
  • Minute the H&S meetings and ensure issues are closed and appropriate documentation and recordings are completed.
  • Assist with document control via Q Pulse system
  • Deputise in absence of H&S Officer in ensuring accident and incident investigations and corrective actions and follow up effectiveness of these actions
  • Perform regular Fire drills as per schedule and complete related documentation
  • Perform regular Health & Safety Audits as per schedule and complete related documentation
  • Perform regular Spill Drills and complete related documentation
  • Perform regular Departmental Fire Risk Assessments and complete related documentation
  • Perform regular Fire Warden Training Sessions and complete related documentation
  • Assist the H&S Officer with the SDS Chemical Manager monitoring
  • Perform the weekly Housekeeping auditing and monitoring
