JOB TITLE: HEALTH & SAFETY ADVISOR
Location: Hybrid/Remote (UK-wide travel required)
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000
About the Company: Our client is a renowned civil engineering contractor specialising in the highways sector. Due to considerable growth, they are seeking a dedicated Health & Safety (H&S) Advisor to oversee the H&S aspects of their expanding business. This is a newly formed role, offering the right candidate an exciting opportunity to shape the H&S strategy and make a significant impact on the company’s operations.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience within the highways or civil engineering sector.
- NEBOSH qualification is essential.
- In-depth knowledge of current H&S legislation and best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel across the UK as required.

Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain Health & Safety policies and procedures across all sites and projects.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with H&S regulations and company standards.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on all H&S matters to management and staff.
- Deliver H&S training and awareness programmes to employees.
- Investigate and report on incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Liaise with external bodies, including HSE, local authorities, and other regulatory organisations.
- Prepare and present H&S performance reports to senior management.
- Ensure all H&S documentation is up-to-date and accurately maintained.
