DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented On-site Health, Safety, and Environment Lead to join our team for our Accelera by Cummins Inc in Mississauga, Ont.

EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS:

College, university, or equivalent degree required. Health, Safety and/or Environmental degree preferred. Professional certification in HSE-related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Intermediate level of experience required, including experience in application of Industrial Safety standards and implementation of risk controls. Minimal management experience preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The role is mainly on-site
  • Solid understanding of Ontario Health and Safety Act and O.Reg. 851
  • Familiar with Machine safety standards per CSA Z432 and Control of Hazardous Energy CSA Z460
  • Understanding of Hydrogen safety would be an asset
  • Experience with Ministry of Environment processes and protocols would be an asset
Responsibilities

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS:

  • Promote a positive safety culture by actively demonstrating safety awareness and coaching others.
  • Engage employees in developing and implementing health, safety, and environmental programs.
  • Provide technical expertise to improve hazard prevention, risk control measures, and drive continual improvement.
  • Support daily operations by solving complex technical issues related to health, safety, and environment.
  • Lead hazard and risk assessments to identify improvement opportunities and compliance gaps.
  • Drive the design and maintenance of hazard prevention and control systems to reduce potential risks.
  • Develop and lead training and internal communications on hazard prevention and control.
  • Evaluate and interpret data to develop improvement plans using a risk-based, data-driven approach.
