Astute’s Nuclear team is partnering with one of the international leaders supporting in the nuclear energy sector to recruit a Health Safety and Environmental Lead for its site operations on Hinkley Point C.

Reporting to the Head of QHSE you will:
- Lead and develop the HPC HSE team, ensuring adherence to health and safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee the implementation of Quality, Health & Safety, Environment, and Radioprotection processes and systems.
- Manage internal and supplier audits, certifications (ISO9001, ISO45001, ISO14001, ISO19443), and other assurance activities.
- Support the executive team in meeting regulatory requirements, such as CDM.
- Collaborate with project and construction teams to implement and monitor HSE programs and performance indicators.
- Coordinate with site function leads for efficient resource use while maintaining functional independence.
- Act as the primary contact for clients and authorities (e.g., HSE, ONR) regarding HSE events and performance.
- Lead accident and incident analysis, implement action plans, and monitor progress.
- Oversee subcontractor performance and the closing process of accidents and incidents.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Expertise in ISO standards (14001, 45001, 19443) and knowledge of Integrated Management Systems, ideally with an internal auditor certification for ISO14001 and ISO45001.
- IOSH/NEBOSH safety certification.
- Experience in accident/incident investigation and problem-solving.
- Experience in highly regulated industries, with nuclear industry experience preferred.
- Project delivery experience and work on construction sites or challenging environments.
- Knowledge of CDM regulations and performance management techniques (FMEA, A-Z, 5 Whys LEAN, Six Sigma).
