A little more about your role… The HSW Director leads the development and delivery of a proactive safety culture across the WSP GGP programme. The role ensures the physical and psychological wellbeing of all those involved in the project—staff, partners, and end users—by embedding consistent safety leadership, compliance, and behavioural engagement. Key Responsibilities Safety Leadership Act as a visible and trusted safety leader across the WSP GGP team Support the GGP leadership in setting the tone for safety culture. Produce and maintain portfolio HSW management plans, and ensure roll-out across the programme Provide guidance, inductions, and leadership on health and safety matters. Conduct safety tours, audits and intervention programmes as required. Attendance at GGP Leadership and wider management meetings as required Enterprise Engagement Build strong relationships with health and safety counterparts across National Grid, Partner organisations and the Integrator. Integrate and adapt agreed safety programmes into WSP ways of working to align with evolving enterprise standards. Staff Competency & Training Coordinate training and induction programmes, including safety stand-downs. Identify and address competency gaps (e.g. conflict awareness for survey teams). Assign and manage resources to support programme-wide safety capability. Compliance & Reporting Lead incident management, safety communications, and participation in leadership forums. Improve safety KPIs and reporting processes, ensuring they are meaningful and not administratively burdensome. Ensure compliance with WSP, National Grid and agreed GGP HSW requirements. Develop structured safety leadership programmes as site activity increases.
