WHO YOU ARE:

You are looking for a career in Health & Safety/Asset Protection. and:

  • You have a certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • You have 3-6 years of relevant experience.
  • You have a valid Class 5 drivers license.
  • Any of the following designations would be an asset: Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP); Certified Health & Safety Consultant (CHSC); Common Safety Orientation (CSO); Loss Prevention Designation (CPP, CFI, CFE, LPQ, or LPC)
  • You have strong leadership, communication and organizational skills.
  • You’re honest and trustworthy, results-oriented, and you strive to be the best at what you do.
  • You believe in building relationships and collaborating to deliver solutions that matter most, and you recognize the value that different perspectives bring to meet shared objectives.

Responsibilities

In this position as the Health & Safety/Asset Protection Advisor, you will be responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of the overall Asset Protection and Health and Safety strategy for Southland Co-op which is focused on safeguarding our people, property and the Co-op brand. In this leadership role you will:

  • Ensure that all company policies, local, provincial and federal laws are adhered to in the execution of all internal and external investigations or inquires.
  • Will oversee the administration of the company Occupational Health & Safety program.
  • Will work collaboratively with Senior Leadership Team and Department Managers to ensure all objectives relating to Loss Prevention and Health and Safety are clearly communicated and executed. This will include providing support, guidance, and training to Team Leaders on all aspects of Asset Protection and Health and Safety.
  • Responsible for effectively and efficiently managing the development and building of relationships along with ensuring the integration of strategic plans with company operations both in the short and long term.
  • Responsible for recognizing opportunities to create efficiencies across departments and synergies among the departments as well as identifying consistency in standards, programs, guest service, brand strategy and operational goals across the locations.
  • Some travel will be required throughout the Southland Co-op area.
